Pathways

Our pathways are essential to justice involved and opportunity youth. Our pathways are focused to amplify access to available resources and provide support and connections – all fundamental elements of success – this is true for all of us.

Psycho-Social Well Being

Since our first Behavioral Health program in 2015, SG has offered families and referring entities a community-based program of care that demonstrates a unique ability to adhere to government regulation while providing family-friendly services. SG contracts with county mental health systems, Managed Care Organizations (MCO’s), and private insurers to provide both fee for service and case rate Medicaid services. In addition to providing quality services to children and youth with various mental health challenges, SG specializes in working with boys and men of color, cross-system youth, and youth who have experienced trauma.

Residential

Showcase Group, an Atlanta-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, seeks to open a residential facility for transitioning youth in Georgia’s child welfare continuum. Statistics and recent legislation support the need for positive, community-based treatment alternatives for foster youth. With its foundation in positive interventions in Georgia’s juvenile detention centers, Showcase Group is uniquely positioned to develop and administer a successful residential operation. Programming will focus on behavioral health, life and coping skills, relationships, literacy, workforce preparation and other key areas of development that will prepare residents for productive lives.

Education

Nearly all of the students who pass through SG programming have experienced school failure—many did not attend school regularly and were suspended or expelled. Most are far behind their peers academically, and 30 to 40 percent of them have special education needs. Showcase Group not only works to meet the academic needs of these students, but also to reach out to them, show them we care, and help them find a path forward by tapping into their hopes, dreams, skills, and talents. We partner with schools with an intensive focus on making school relevant and meaningful for the youth we serve, creating a culture of high achievement, and developing a school climate rooted in mutual respect and understanding. We partner with schools rich in culture and climates grounded in values (Respect, Integrity, Good Judgement, Hope/Optimism, and Teamwork) and a positive approach to discipline and prosocial behavior. Showcase Group assists our partnering schools with blended learning and technology to enable our students to access content beyond the walls of the school setting, to increase their technology and computing skills, and prepare them for success at school or work. We work closely with the custodial care staff at JJIC, actively engage with the families of our students and invite them to be active participants in the life of the school, and partner with members of the greater New Orleans community—building relationships that will support students when they return home.
